Rehabilitation

The following template for rehabilitation is recommended in conjunction with the use of ArcEquine:-

Where tissue damage / repair with the ARC is involved, a dynamic and progressive rehab regime is imperative as from the beginning of Phase 2 of the Treatment Protocol.
This regular increase in the load through the damaged structure, especially where tendons, ligaments or bone are involved, is what " encourages " the repair process.


Suggested Rehabilitation Template:

During this integrated Treatment / Rehab Protocol

Straight lines only

On a good, firm surface

No circles, poles, lungeing, long reining, etcDonkey.jpg

No pinching or squeezing of any tendon, ligament, etc (by ANYONE)

No testing (flexion, etc, by ANYONE)

No stretching exercises

NO physical trauma (Shock Wave Therapy, unnecessary injections, etc)

Box rest   (unless already turned out)

No work

Plenty of TLC

 

 


Phases 2 & 3

Turnout as much as possible

Begin walking in hand, for 15 minutes per day

Increase by 5 minutes every 4th day until up to 30 minutes per day

Then 30 minutes per day for a total of 8 daysBlk_horse.jpg

Begin walking under saddle, for 15 minutes per day

Increase by 5 minutes every 4th day until up to 30 minutes per day

Then 30 minutes per day for a total of 8 days

Back to walking under saddle for 15 minutes per day. Introduce a little trot

Increase total time by 5 minutes per day every 4th day (and the trot pro rata) until up to 30 minutes per day

Then 30 minutes per day for a total of 8 days.
